    • Went and picked up my timber order, had to cut the lengths in half as they were 5.1m long. They are now laid in the polytunnel till tomorrow when I'll start on the new pond cage. Rest of the afternoon was spent listening to footy.

        • Brother-in-law's father is giving up his allotment. Went down with brother-in-law to collect a few tools, slabs, netting, poles, canes, seeds, watering cans, hose pipes that he said I could have. Now the shed is full up and needs sorting!!!!!

            • Yesterday in the raised bed I moved some geraniums & took down a tomato plant, couple of sunflowers & cucumber plants giving me space for my garlic, sprinkled some BFB over it also added a load of old potato bag compost (all potatoes removed hopefully!) to raise the level in there & bulk it up. Also covered it with netting to stop the cats/birds getting in. It was getting dark the other night probably about 6pm & I thought I better top up the bird feeders for the morning, there was no birds anywhere,I topped them up & as I was going back indoors,a bird chirped thankyou to me from my ceonothus by the patio

Cleared detritus from shed - for the first time in about 3 years I can sit down in it and reach all tools as needed without (too much ) risk of pulling a hernia or getting stabbed in the nether regions by a falling matlock or slapped square in the face by an errant rake.

                  • Had a very productive day, my target was to get all the timber in place for the octagonal pond cage but I failed.........I didn't manage to make the gate so that's a job for tomorrow. Just waiting delivery of chicken wire & roof netting before I can take the existing net off the pond. The timbers look skewiff in the photo but I promise I spirit leveled every piece. Will have to double check them tomorrow.

                    • The other day I made a plan of where my plants are going to be next year so I know where to put my onions etc & thought I'l sow meteor peas everywhere I had tomatoes in the ground & then I know not to plant tomatoes there next year & where there's no peas I can plant tomatoes (&theres space for sweetcorn & runner beans etc but they can go in anywhere, tomatoes are the main concern of my rotation) so I pulled out 7 old tomato plants & left the canes in there & added net in a v shaped screen design & sowed loads of meteor peas, watered them & covered with some metal greenhouse shelving, then it was dark (at 5pm!)

                      • As promised here is my Frankenstein's monster of a shed

8 x 8 greenhouse frame cut down to 8 x 4 and then did that to it

started putting shelves into the shed but stop because realised next door neighbour is having a new kitchen fitted on Tuesday. So hopefully Might be able to blag an old kitchen cupboard and bit of work top.

May sound a bit daft BM but why do you need a pond cage? I'm sure George will be able to look after himself!
