Well I've harvested my bag of sweet potatoes

So they don't do well in potato bags. Next year I'll try a different.

I wonder how they'll do in a hanging basket?

Picked my pitiful harvest of parsnips and salsify.

Dug a bit of mud and carted it about. Carted a couple of barrows of hos muck as well.
You appear to be minus a triffid! And someones dumped two wooden boxes in its place!
Someone needs to tell them that flytipping is ilegal!

• I've dug another 2 holes ready for my little polytunnel move. Moved some of the more delicate varieties of mint into the big tunnel. Pulled up a few things that have really had enough. Painted the doors on his workshop.

I still have another one to do
For some reason he who is moving ( with helpers ) the tunnel didn't want the last hole dug . I think he's just making BS up so he doesn't have to move the tunnel.
Guess what I'm doing tomorrow ......and making it quite large so there's lots of wiggle room

• Weather wasn't too bad here today, about 5 celcius at 8.30am. Outside I noticed my garlics coming through nicely, the stems are about 2" tall. Some meteor peas have also come up a couple of millimetres through the soil. There's still a few flowers on my dahlias,French marigolds, nasturtiums & geraniums so I just dead headed & tidied them up. Took the yellowing leaves off my brocolli & some leaves off my centranthus ruber that had leaf miner trails on them. Also went to the aquarium shop to get a new lightbulb for the fish tank, the fish shops inside wyvale so picked up some broad beans - Aguadulce & the Sutton to sow this week or next. I might get all my seeds out & gather together what I'l be growing next year, then make a monthly sowing list, then I'l know what I've got etc.

• Built a coldframe over part of one raised bed. Covered peas with fleece and netting. Earthed up leeks.

The soil here now is absolutely perfect, i wish it could be like this all year long, so crumbly.

• I was awaiting the SKY installation man to arrive and set up my daughters broadband line, some time between 8 and 1 he arrived at 5 minutes to one, but the morning was spent clearing the leafs from her path and the grassed area either side and I managed to fill 10 black sacks of leafs and the back of the car and then dropped them off down the allotment. Now I need to make a cage for them.

• Today (well, yesterday now) I tidied up my shed, sorting out all the used pots strewn about the place into neat piles and getting rid of all the rubbish. Then I put all the chrysanthemum stools that I dug up yesterday (well, the day before yesterday now) into a deep tray in fresh compost and watered them in for the winter.

I didn't do anything vegetable-wise except to admire the winter lettuce and other greens that have been coming along nicely in the greenhouse.

• Today I sowed my dwarf broad bean the Sutton amongst some yellow & purple crocus & pink & white hyacinth bulbs that I planted a few weeks ago under the bee hotel, they don't need staking & the bulbs mixed with beans should give a nice display of colour. I sowed the taller broad bean Aguadulce near the top of the garden next to the shed,in an area I've been burying all sorts of organic matter,a double row about 4ft long covered with some leaves. Raked all the leaves off the grass & put it on my empty beds. The other day I watched a female blackbird turning over all the leaves in the back border with her beak, having a good forage for bugs not peas or beans hopefully

• After spending a couple of fruitless hours last night trying to sort out the lappy, I spent all this morning cleaning & re-installing software as I picked up some kind of virus rendering the lappy to have a black screen & nothing else. Anyways all's well now so can watch footy later on.

• I went to the plot early to feed my chooks before leaving to do some work on my project house. Had to go to plot 24 to get some mixed corn. Marvelled at the brisk sunny morning with the sunlight on the glittering frost. Decided I'd definately made the right move by changing from my old plot.

Went back to old plot to feed and water the chooks and the sun hadn't got to them yet!

Think I prefer sunlight in the morning and through the majority of the day to sunlight on the evening
