          • This morning I sowed dwarf French beans - Delinel, Stanley and Aquilon. Last year was my worst ever year for DFBs, with poor crops of uneven, crescent shaped, scabby beans. No idea what went wrong.

Also sowed some freebie celeriac seeds, I've never managed to germinate these in the past.

            • Most of my veg has been sown but still need to do sweetcorn - F1 variety called Swift. Do I need to soak the seeds for 12 hours or so before I sow them?

                • My ebay seeds arrived today (from a shop recommended here; this place is a terrible influence!), so I couldn't resist sowing some: dwarf borlotti, kohlrabi, uchiki kuri squash, plus some flowers for the bees: comfrey, yarrow, nigella and poached egg plant.

Great - I'll soak them tonight and plant them in the greenhouse tomorrow
