    • Yesterday I harvested a lot of brussels sprouts evesham special that i've had growing since October last year. I removed the slug & the outer bug eaten leaves, blanched them for 3 minutes & froze most of them, tried some for dinner, they were nice.

      • Salad for a mid-afternoon cheese sandwich: Lettuce, Mizuna, Sorrel, other green leaves, 2 radish and 2 of the last cherry tomatoes. All straight from greenhouse to plate. Lovely.

I had two brussels sprout plants blow & they flowered. One or two got eaten when they were young, only four good plants out of about eleven when I started them in October. There's six plants out there in total but two plants are unstaked & half laying on the ground, with little sprouts on,I don't know why they didn't blow unless the roots were undisturbed by the laying down of the plant? I think they can blow if they're in too much direct sun as well,so if you've got a part shaded area try some there & plant more than you need if they're non F1 seeds like Evesham special!

They're Evesham yeah, don't think they're "Evesham special".

I'll try them again next year and I'll try planting them closer to the fence where it gets a bit more shade in the afternoon.

I literally could not have stamped them in anymore (the ground was almost solid around the base) and to help even more, like i said i added a stake to each plant. Gutted when I seen they'd blown.

                  • I think there's only one type of Evesham,I wonder if I added the word special to them,if you call them special they might feel enough love to not blow?

Your not going nuts. I've grown Evesham special before . They weren't that special! But that was before I joined the vine and learned the correct way to grow sprouts
