The little and large of the parsnip world, first sprouts of the year, some leeks and a couple of carrots
The parsnips were a surprise - same variety but they've developed quite differently. Although the big one was damaged it wasn't at all woody in the middle and was lovely roasted tonight
Frozen chard - how come once picked it goes like seaweed when it thaws? If I'd left it on the plant it would have been fine once the weather warms up...
I froze some chard earlier in the year when I realised I had far too much growing so pulled some up for the space.
It does go more mushy, so i use it where you'd want spinach to give a finer more melting texture rather than leaves that hold together more like fresh chard.
Frozen stems are good for chucking in a stir fry or soup when it's raining & I can't be bothered with night time veg collecting.
What I harvested - nothing except rosemary for the chicken....
Harvested my last 2 swedes today and cut them up and froze them. I needed to get some horse manure on that part of my garden so thought I'd just get them out and freeze them freeing up the room for a bag of horse manure to go on.
Still got a load of Parsnips to come out but have no room in the freezer but need to get some manure on that area too. Hmm decisions.
I suppose i could just dig some compost in in the spring once they're all out.
