March
A few photos of March in the garden, its looking quite bare at the moment but ready for plants. The second photo shows my newly dug bed with some brussels sprouts that were in the blow away over winter (the netting needs improving,I only had 3 small pieces so it doesn't fit properly but I've pegged it shut its ok ) its next to my raised bed where there's elephant garlic & some red onion bulbs. In the other net cage is brussels sprouts & lettuce with copper tape protection from slugs.Location : Essex

April.
Quite a few changes this month.
Near the hotbin
Bucket of brokali has been replaced by 5 buckets of potatoes under cloches and 2 buckets of leeks.
Near the apple tree
3 more buckets of potatoes under a cloche. The apple tree has been mulched with Strulch and is starting to break its buds. A bucket of brokali and one of PSB are squatting on the flower border as are some of the strawberries on their shelf. This is the sunniest part of the garden at this time of year and it seems a shame to waste it while I wait to plant the bedding plants. With a bit of imagination you can just see the bands of copper tape round the legs of the shelving - I have not put the strawberry pots directly onto the soil so that they don't get invaded by slugs.
From under the archway
The net is back on the carrot cage with newly sown carrots protected by plastic cloches. There is also a net over the gooseberry and blackcurrant bushes in the hope that it will keep out the sawflies. The early Meteor peas are now too big for the growhouse and are squatting on the flower bed. The salad planter contains the remains of mizuna and namenia, which have been used for salads during the winter. The giant winter spinach in the growhouse is finally ready for me to pick a decent handful of leaves - 3 months later than planned!
The dark area behind the fruit cage
More strawberries now in their permanent position where (hopefully) I can hang bird netting over them from the bars of the fruit cage. Blueberries are starting to break their buds. The bucket of kohlrabi on the raised bed will be eaten soon, and this is where most of the buckets of potatoes currently under cloches will eventually live.
The veg garden
Lots of fleece covering bare soil, onions and yet more pots of potatoes. Newly planted peas near the path, and seedlings being hardened off in the cold frame. The old strawberries in the planter are looking very tired and I may ditch these later if they don't grow. The spring cabbage is doing ok at the far end of the path.A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy
