last year I grew Maris piper they make very good chips, but only had a small crop, I seem to grow Picasso very well but they do not make the best chips, is there a good chipper that has a large crop

My bestest ever chip experience was Roosters, soil to plate in 40mins, using double fry method and pre-soaking 15mins.
Sadly the shop bought ones are quite pricey and rarely good quality.

I grow pink fir apple for fat, wonky delicious chips!
They're very tasty, the slugs don't like them much and you can use them from second early stage right through to late maincrop. If you leave them till maincrop time they store really well over winter.

So, whenever my kids want chips in summer, I just dig up a plant, break them in sausagey fingers, scrub and fry.
By late autumn the bigger ones need cutting in half lengthwise and I lift and store for chips right through the winter.

That's the one, they grow nicely from chits and there is a lot less waste when home grown.

really difficult spud to grow to get decent sized tubers. If you do succeed you will get great chips

I don't fry mine, I oven roast wedges - and I use parboiled Charlottes drizzled in oil, salt and Rosemary. It gives you a half-way house between roasties and chips.

Another fan of Kestrel chips here, Sarpo Axona aren't bad but they can be a bit floury so the chips need to be cut thin, Sarpo Kifli make great potato wedges.

I've not tried them (I want to next year!) but Albert Bartlett Roosters are supposed to make excellent chips... so I agree with dammad!
