I do all my growing outside so...

Cucumbers - I grew burpless last year and was super impressed, I had loads of cuces from only two plants. This year I'm trying Mohican and Crystal Lemon aswell.

Tomatoes (apologies if some of these are bush I can never remember which are which!) - last year I had pomodoro which were amazing and gardeners delight which were disappointing. But it was a terrible summer... This year I have tigerella, tumbler, venus, black cherry and golden queen

Marketmore have always been a favourite (uk) I also find the little cucumbers like gherkins do really well, you can let them get pretty big as well.

Gardeners delight and moneymaker are always on my list along with sungold, I try not to do many f1s as I like to save whatever seeds i want.
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

I would recommend the tomato variety Ferline

Medium size nice looking tomatoes, taste very nice, the plants are vigorous and has blight and other disease resistance.

Do you rate Ferline higher than Mountain Magic, maverick?

I couldn't decide between Mountain Magic and Ferline from what I have read about them, hence the intention to grow both. I will report back later in the year

Diffcult to answer really, both were great for me last year

Ferline tomotoes are bigger, just basically a normal tomato size, mountain magic are smaller, kind of in between a cherry and a normal size.

Ferline were resistant to blight but mountain magic were on another level to anything ive seen.

I grow a variety of tomatoes, cherry upwards for different uses but If I had a to grow one id probably grow ferline just because the size of them worked well for me and my family.

The varieties (all gherkin style as opposed to the supermarket type) I've grown outside without any problems are: Restina (F1 all female, early variety growing to about 3-4"), Delikatesse / Delikateß (I think it's a German heirloom variety grows to about 7-8").

Tomatoes, well I tried Gardeners Delight outside, I certainly wasn't delighted so I've stuck to growing them in those tomato grow house blow-away things.

Climate wise I'm on south facing slope in South Wales.

That's clever, may have to have a root around during these wet days.

I received my GYO mag today - all of those tom seeds are outdoor varieties too. No idea where I'm going to fit them all - but then that's half the fun

Its one of those green polytunnels - a lot bigger than a "Blowaway", (a plastic greenhouse).
