  • Has anyone used Epsom salts before? They really help toms like people say they do? I was thinking about spraying my plants with some to cure the yellowing but would like others experience first?

    • Again, it really should be too early to be worrying about epsom salts unless the compost their selling really is useless, thing is though, it seems to be just the odd plants that are effected, weird yes, time to panic?, na,keep cool and prosper

Not until next week. Far too cold here at the minute.

I really getting p'd off with this as I have never had this problem before with tomatoes. I've looked forward to growing them all winter and now some of them are taking a turn for the worse.

                • Last yr we had carp weather , you'll be fine. I can't get anything out my house til June .
Once we get outta this blast of air , itl warm , you'll get them out into true places and they will catch up .
Once out , make a polythene /bubble wrap tent to slot over .
                  Don't worry.

                        • Ramblings of a tomato grower

Im not really too happy with my tomato plants this year, about half of them have purple on the leaves and a bit of yellow on the lower leaves, they just dont seem to be thriving

Even though I heat the greenhouse I think its too cold for them, I light feed them once a week, I personally think even though they are showing defiency symptoms its the cold rather than not enough nutrients that is the problem.

Im going try and foliar feed them with some magnesium and also some seaweed extract see if they perk up, half of them look fine and dark green and theyve all been treated them same,

The outdoor varieties are healthier than the indoor varieties, I think thats maybe a a clue to cold being the problem.

Same for most of mine Mally...They are not even being covered with fleece now...
Still have some indoors, but just waiting for the cold weather to pass and they are being chucked out too..
