I only have had it once in the past and that was with Roma VF. Then this year I have one plant with a couple of toms affected and that's San Marzano. So yes, both were plum types. I've tried really hard to keep up with all the watering and feeding this year but had a couple of weekends away where a little drying out couldn't be prevented.

On the subject of succession, it seems the Marzanos don't ripen all at once. Which is great for a few grilled toms here and there, maybe less great if I want to make sauces, though they may well speed up a bit later in the year. None of my Red Pear are ripe yet, though are setting plenty of fruit.

One of my Tigerella's is on the turn as well. I thought it was going to be the first ripe one of the year but a Sungold looks like it's about to take that crown. That should be ready in the next day or two. The Tigerella is bigger so is taking a lot longer to ripen.

I'm going to have tomatoes coming out of my ears in a month or so haha!

              • Last year I was plagued by BER. This year none whatsoever. However, had masses of flowers but not much fruit actually set. The Black Russian has only set about half a dozen fruit, but they are massive. Gardeners delight are also uncharacteristically large. Tigrella have been the best cropper, followed by Shirley and Sungold. Ferline not done much.

                • Breakfast this morning was a Cheese and Tomato Sandwich, so much better than shop bought ones.

                    • Having just been out to water and feed all my tomato plants, I can confirm that tomorrow will be the day that I pick my first tomato. One of my Sungold tomatoes is ready. I was going to pick it tonight but thought I would give myself something to look forward to tomorrow morning when i get up. A few of the others like the yellow pear, red pear and Tigerella are also on the turn.

I shall get some photo's tomorrow.

                      • I find Sungold are usually one of the earliest outdoor tomatoes to ripen. I also find that the temptation to eat one when they first turn orange is overwhelming. However, they do taste much better if allowed to ripen for a few more days after they first change colour.

I dont think there was a diary as such, there was a likes and dislikes thread which is stickied

In September you still didn't have any & some tomatoes had brown specks on the skin? Did you sow them later last year, you've done well this year.
