  • Just changed the compost in 7 of my tomato plants that were looking a very pale green colour. One's like this...

Had to open some brand new compost to do it which i was going to keep for potting them into their final positions/pots but needs must as they were getting paler by the day. In any case, i only used a few good handfuls. Hopefully now they'll all start picking up a bit. Or they could just fall over and die due to my disturbing them, only time will tell. I'll update if and when i see any change.

On my window sill but these really cold nights I've started moving them off the window sill altogether and into my bedroom and onto the floor.

Plus some of the others were nearer the window than the one with the brown leaf so surely they would get frost damage first if it was that?

        • Just trying to work out why you've just got one or two yellow ones and the rest are lovely and green. Often if you've got them all crowded together the outside ones will get hit by the cold. Protecting the inner ones. But that doesn't seem to be the case for you.

          • Ahhhhhhh! Now Chuffin snow! Your having a laugh!

Really nice plants Scarlet! A tad envious here!

Scoot! Taking them off the window sill might be the best bet! Clearly not happy!

Well ive Potted the pale ones into new compost and I'll keep them off the window sills at night as I have been and see what happens. See if they pick up. I'm not sure what else to do if that doesn't work.

                          • This time last week I was gardening in shorts and t shirt - it was boiling. Today I've been brushing snow off my broccoli! Crazy!

My mum has just told me that in 1976 they had snow in early June, which was followed by what was, and still is, the hottest summer on record... here's hoping!

                            • What causes yellowing on lower leaves of tomato plant? Happening to a few of the plants, seem to be yellow leaves with purple veins? I've given them a diluted feed but not making much difference. Pots seem a decent size so doubt they're root bound.

                              • Where are you keeping them Rhys? I wouldn't worry too much if it's just the lower leaves, though they are very leggy and look a little wet maybe? How are you watering them? Best to stand the pots in water and let them soak it up rather than keep washing water through the soi from above
