Chillies - what are you growing/overwintering?

I really wasn't going to grow many chillies this year but I just can't help it
I've got some Habs, satans kiss (thanks Jack) lemon drop, Hungarian black wax, trinidad scorpion and some Cayennes all popped through.

Overwintering I have done black nagas, scorpian butch and some lemon drops. All looking good so far.....fingers crossed.

Lemon drops are by far one of the easiest to overwinter....mine have started to fruit ( I have hand pollinated, though it sure if it's helped or not) with plenty more flowers ready to open

What have you got on the go?

I am going to attempt again to grow scotch bonnet, cayanne and there is another one by t&m that was 99p on special so will have a bash at those too.

Last year my plants grew lovely but the fruit never seem to ripen in time :/
Going to try moving the green house to a sunnier possition see if that helps

None of made it over the winter. Having said that I really didnt give them enough care and attention.

I really looked after mine this winter as last year the Spring was such a late start that most of my plants didn't produce anything - I was a bit disheartened. Though the Lemon drop never fails to fruit. The black nagas (seeds from the VSP/SP) didnt even flower - I couldn't leave them in the GH till June - so I'm hopeful that they will give me a decent crop this year and I can save some seed

I'm growing 4 types, Jamaican Hot, Hungarian Wax, Padron and Inferno - all currently under lights with one set of true leaves. None of my plants from last year looked fit to overwinter, they all went a bit sulky and mouldy, and refused to produce any fruit... I think it was all the cold dreich weather.

I'd love some lights! My seedlings have only just popped up, currently on a stand in my dining room bay window. I cover them over with a sheet of plastic at night..keep them cosy

Most have popped nicely but Habaneno, scotch bonnet and Raam have not done too well but should still have one plant of each.

I really am not a chilli eater but no one seems to sell chilli´s out here so i am going to try and sell some of mine.

Really looking forward to lemon drop and i have heard such good things and i have never tried them

I didn't try to overwinter anything, I just let them die in the polytunnel. It was a shame, because one was a Jamaican hot which i'd overwintered from 2014, but it was so scabby looking by September that I knew it wasn't going to be allowed back in the house!

Doesn't take up much room, and definitely good for giving chillies a head start - I'm very impressed with mine so far!

I didn't manage to over winter my black naga. So no more black naga for me
I will be sowing 19 varieties, (some of which are thanks to scarlet) in the next 1/2 hour. The seeds have been soaking overnight and the propagator has been warming. Fingers crossed for speedy germination

I am a chilli wuss so don't go for the 'blow your socks off' types.

Only one this year and its Razzamatazz just because it looks pretty.

I'm only growing one type of Chilli and i got it off Lisabolt. Funny thing is i can;t remember what it is called because when i opened the packet, i cut the name off and chucked it away. I THINK it's called capsicum twilight. When i've typed that into google all the results i get are "Numex twilight"

I'm also a chilli wuss! I don't eat curry anymore (OH can't take spicy food so none of us eat it)

They are reasonably hot but aren't as hot as nagas etc. I use mine in jams, chutneys and pickles/oils etc rather than eat them in a curry which we never eat. I'll occassionally use a few while roasting fish but then it's roasted in its own little bag so that the OH doesn't get any! I do love chilli jam missed up with mayo on smoked salmon and it's good for that.

I grew some of them a few years ago. Very pretty plants that fruited really well. Have they sprouted yet?

All of my overwintering plants died. Under lights I've got orange wonder, chupetinho, serrano tampiqueno, trepadiera werner, satan's kiss, alberto's locoto rocoto and a chilli (B) from Rob Smith as part of his veg trials.

Still have fish, hungarian black, padrons, pasilla bajio to sow.
