    • Today I could wait no more ~ I picked a Twilight chilli, a pale creamy-colour. It was only approx 12mm (1/2 inch) - so not very big, BUT, wowsers...!
I cut it in half lengthways, left the seeds in and popped it into my chilli-con-carne - and boy, it was a hot 'un.......... delish!

          • Chilli's have there very own chopping board in our kitchen. Don't usually ware gloves but it looks like we are carving the smallest roast ever, holding the chilli still with a fork. And we always rinse chopping board and knife as soon as we're done then put them in the washing up pile. Then wash hands. No mistakes have happened........yet.
A good trick I've learned is keep mint chocolate close by ( any sort / brand ). So when you do try that bit of chilli that blows your head off. Eat mint chocolate it stops it instantly ( don't know how that works but it does ). I have a cheap after dinner mints. One normally does the job, but I have two because it's their!
Sorry if I've told you about the chocolate thing before, I've told someone recently but can't remember if it was an actual conversation or you lot

                • Hi all

Nice to pop in for a little natter, off to the lottie in a mo tho so just a quick question, will put a photo or 2 up when i get back.

Red Manzano------- 2 grown, one been outside since may plenty of flowers and fruits mostly turned black from green , do they go red ?.

2nd one stayed in green house, no flowers at all, not one, finally gave up on it and have chopped it right back ready to try and overwinter.

Sooooo, im guessing it was just toooo hot in GH for red manzano, but, as it is now starting to cool down outside, should i think about putting the succsesfull plant back in GH ?, thanks in advance and catch you later this aft , missed you all XXXXX

                  • We've missed you Jack! How's the Lottie going hope things are well with you?

I've got two in the GH...both doing well. One much better than the other as I have left it in a pot that's a tad too small. They get "brown" smudges on when they turn. Post a pic up and I"ll go and get some photos from mine.

                    • Some pics of chillis
Hi Scarlet . not too bad, mil very poorly at the moment so everythings a bit ups n downs.

Allotments going fine , plenty of runners, french beans and beetroot getting eaten .

ok, from the left, my red manzano , Black naga ( both scarlet ) ( although colour on naga looks decided;y chocolatey), satans kiss ( nice heat, not too much but much smaller than i was hoping for seeing as the italians stuff them, think the red manzano would be more suitable. and last pic a lemon drop and the last red habanero on the left.
All my habs have been picked apart from that last one ( and as several of you have mentioned, its the one that i hacked back)
Interestingly though, it is still the same height as the other two but sturdier.

                          • I can't remember if mine went that brown but it is quite common for chillies to sometimes look muddy before they turn red, my Manzanos are still Apple green but I can see a hint of brown shoulders.
...my Satans kiss here looks brown.

My Satans kiss had an unfortunate accident! I snapped the top but it's recovered well.

I love this plant! Royal black. Only about 2ft tall orjust over but it's really thick, leaves are gorgeous colour. It's a slow plant but I will grow this again. Ive got two and they are both a lovely shape.

                            Hungarian black wax

Alma paprika - these look really interesting!
Those black nagas are also sometimes called "chocolate" I think. Even black cherry tomato is really muddy brown but the black nagas look speacial imo.

                              • your chilli's are looking very nice scarlet

Had a bit of a shuffle round in the tunnel this afternoon so some of my chillis have a bit more space, air, light round them.
that means I've managed to get a photo of my holy mole. i'm very impressed with him.

I've put my secateurs on the pot for scale, never grown such a big fat chilli
