How how would you say..i'm still looking a green ones.
All the reviews I'd watched on YouTube people talked of an 'explosion' When you bite into it.. there really is, I'm a millisecond the heat and flavour just hits you and makes you go.. Wow!!
Very hard for me to say, not being an accomplished chilli head.. but judging by my other peppers probably 80,000- 100,000 bit that's a very rough guide!
..I can eat them raw and I'm a wimp with big heat! Lol
A question - I've only ever overwintered chilis once and the missus got very upset because of the amount of tiny black flies that seemed to live and breed in the compost. Has anyone any tips for stopping this? I'm thinking of cellophaning the top of pot, tight around stem, and watering from saucer at bottom. Will that work?)
Yes, that should work. I rarely get them..(though some years worse than others for no reason?? Keep the top of the compost very dry. Just water from the bottom trying not to let the earth on the top get too wet. I know others that cover the compost on the top but I think making sure it's dry stops them coming.

How many are you going to try to overwinter?
Thanks Scarlet!
I'm not sure yet. All of them are in big pots, too big for windowsills! I might, if I'm lucky, have room for two at the (glass) backdoor.
But then again, all of my plants this year seem a bit stunted compared to previous years so is it worth the hassle I wonder?
The sante fe grande harvest is indeed spectacular but to tell you the truth, I'm disappointed that they're such a gimmicky thing. Yeah it's good fun taking some to the pub for chili russian roulette, but I grow them to cook with! I'd have been far happier with a decent fresno harvest.
I'm looking forward to next years growing season already ( I just want this year to be over, even though my chilli's have done well ). So I thought I would show you my list for next year ( so far ! ) and we can compare notes.

Reason: Forgot stuff
That's an impressive list indeed. I'm going the other way next year and focusing on only 5 varietles of which jalapenos will make up 60%. I'm aiming for about 200 plants in total.
