But then I have a plan

200 plants? How much do you spend on compost?

    • Wow 200 plants !! I'm only growing one of each variety. The extra that germinate will either be sold, swapped or composted.

      • I could never only grow one Jalapeno plant...that would only do one fajitas dinner

                • I picked 2 big plants of apache yesterday, each about 2ft across and 18ins tall with what looked like hundereds of fruit, and we filled two good sized freezer bags full, I just shove them through the garlic press when I use them as I cant be bothered dicing up any small peppers/chillies, and we have another 7 bags of other types that ripened earlier...where would we be without our chillies and peppers?..

                  • I had some of my blended guindilla's on a chicken dish today. I blended my guindilla's with some onions and sweet peppers and froze it in a little tub a couple of weeks ago. Today i chipped a bit off the frozen block and added it to my chicken, peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes and rice dish. Gave it a nice kick and there's still some left in the freezer for another go. Can't wait until next year when i can grow a load of different kinds as this year was my first year trying chillies and peppers and it wasn't very good. I know what to do next year though

                            • Looks like mould - the surface is very wet. scrape it off, let the soil dry out, then water from the bottom and hopefully it shouldn't be an issue (IMO!)

                              • Thanks Vix, they have only ever been watered from the bottom and I've been away for five days so they haven't been watered recently. Pots do feel heavy though and the house was quite cold when we got back so maybe I've overwatered them before I went away and it's been too cold to dry them out too much. Thanks for the advice, as always it's appreciated!
