Yay way to go Simon..they are looking great SP ...are you going to save Simon's seeds?
and the chocolate Habaneroslook fantastic..
Thanks Ms-T
Not saving Simons seeds because I brought a packet of seed the same time I got him. Well you have to spend lots of money when you're at a gardening show
An update on mine from the winter 'grow station'...
From the left - (1) Cherry bomb stays in full bush form until the pods ripen, they ripen quick so shouldn't be more than a week or two.
(2) Hungarian Hot Wax (3) Bulgarian Carrot and (4) Jalapeno have all now had a haircut. I've left the carrot with 2 pods so should get to sample these soon for the first time.
They've all had a spray of bug killer as I found a little orange thing crawling on the Jalapeno. I'm going to do another spray in a couple of days to catch any babies that have turned up since the first spray. At least there's no greenfly this year!
There are also signs of tiny new leaves that are still growing since I brought them in and decapitated them a few days ago, so it looks like they've settled right into their winter home.
Scarlet have you got really small hands or are they quick large chilli's they look stunning. What sort of heat do they have ?
Trip you lucky lucky................( fill in blank from well known monty Python film )
I've got loads of varieties still green .
Delhi hot
Ghost
Black naga
Tree chilli
Scotch bonnet
Think I'm going to be drying lots of green chilli's.
Still waiting on my Manzano to ripen; only plant i haven't had a chilli off yet...
Oh really? Ive got at least 20 on one plant!! First time ever that ive been that lucky, but I think you started late? Ive got seeds of these saved - I'm gonna put the, in our chilli swap. They over ŵinter brilliantly though.
SP, I think they are hot!! They are large but also my hands are small..I'm just 5ft tall (when I stand on tip toes ) but my brothers would agree ive got a great left hook!
Well, a few cold nights and two frosts and my manzano plants are dead as dodo's
Lots of fruit though....and they are pretty
Very impressive pods , they're about twice the size of the cherry bombs I'm growing. On that note I think it's time for an update since bringing them indoors....
An update on the indoor chillies under the grow lights, 10 days since bringing indoors:
All the plants seem happy indoors now. The cherry bomb has pods ripening quickly - one harvested and another five on the turn. Little does it know it's going to get a massive haircut once those pods are gone!
The other's are showing new growth, quite a lot of it.
I've probably slowed them down by picking off most of the mature leaves that were left after pruning the plants down, and were providing energy, as the carrot plant was showing some brown 'rust' on it's leaves where they got wet in the mini greenhouse outside (leak fixed now). It doesn't look like leaf spot, but I don't want any leaf diseases lingering and taking over, so I'm plucking off the larger old leaves as the new ones grow, to avoid contact between them. I also have plants on a fungicide plan for the next few weeks, a bit belt and braces but I really don't want leaf diseases taking over. I had an Apache that was almost decimated by leaf spot last year.
I also flushed through the cherry bomb in a bucket of warm water, and refertilised it - it has had the most growth and fertiliser this summer, so I wanted to remove any build ups in the compost. Lots of brown fluid came out of the pot so I think it will have 'cleansed' the compost for some good new growth.
All four plants have put on some flower buds since coming under the grow lights, so I might be on track to get some sort of harvest by Christmas.

Yep, I was late with these ones as someone (hint hint) kindly sent me some in Spring...
I have lots of fruit on one plant and a couple are nearly red, so not long now. They are really big chillies and more like small apples in size!!
Great to hear you have saved some seeds for the swap too
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....
Yes, I think it was around a March sowing, so pretty late for chillies. They are really slow to get going, though I think they are worth the wait Jack had some too, wonder how he got on?
Tim, did you cut all your overwintering chillies down that much last year? How many survived?
