Scarlet its a funny looking chillie, but i love it.
I am hopeing to have a move around in the garden so i can have a bit bigger g/h.my little ones over 35years old and it was second hand when i got it.
Just looking at my records and at all the talk here and on the seed swap thread, I am thinking I will have to make more room..I thought 57 chilli plants of 17 varieties & 19 Sweet Pepper (7 varieties) this year was bad; what's next year going to be like
I must be disciplined
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....
Morning trip
Just the man I wanted to ask.........how many jalapeño plants do you grow? I'm in the proses of working out how many of each variety I need / want. Jalapeño is tricky, I'm thinking 4.

Morning SP
You are probably asking the wrong man
I love my Jalapenos and use them in lots of things, but the majority of them get pickled...
So last year I grew 4 Purple Jalapeno and 12 Green Jalapeno
If it helps, I was delighted with my crop and will be growing at least 15 (of different colours) again next year
What are you thinking of doing with them ??

Wow 16 plants!
How many jars of pickled did you get out of that lot?
We will definitely be doing a lot more pickling. We did our first jar this year and they are lovely.
we sell a few chillies as well and they have been a very popular variety this year.
While we're on jalapeños, I'm growing early jalapeño for the first time next year ( as well as normal). Are they much earlier or isn't there a lot of difference?
I think I need to go up to 8 plants at least, 4 of each variety
Thanks trip
I didn't pickle them all obviously but I would estimate ( I can check when I'm home) that I have used about 5 jars already and have easily another 20 or so still to use..
I pickled my first jars in August too....
Jar sizes are slightly bigger than your typical jam jar sizes and I have a couple of larger kilner type jars full too..
There could be some other chillies mixed in there with them (possibly Chilaca aka Holy Moly) but its mainly Jalapeno...
This year was a brilliant year for me crop wise so that helped...
Can't recall trying a specific early variety but I find Jalapenos so quick to grow and mature anyway, that I'm not sure how much difference it would make? Plus with my grow-lights, I am harvesting much earlier anyways

Yikes, that is a serious grow. Do you sell them or is it just to feed your own habit?
I've gone and done it ! I've started sowing next years chilli seeds
All my super hots are now in the propagator
Fatalii Jigsaw
Dorset Naga
Black Naga
Ghost
Jays Peach Ghost Scorpion
If they all germinate, I will have some spare ones at some point. If anyone would be interested.
