Hmm, not the best of pics
He looks fine to me jack. He's still bigger than most of my chilli's. I would just scrape off the White mouldy stuff from your compost.

Welcome to the vine Dru, please ask away . I agree with Jack, photos help but it's generally best to grow one chilli per pot.

Jack, that padron doesnt look bad, similar size to all my chillies I'd scrape that dandruff off too

1 i never thought they would all germinate

so i know i really need to re pot these now, can you tell me how many can i leave in this tin pot to grow??

              • I would take them all out and repot in single pots. I would just grow one in that tin pot. What variety of chilli is it?

                • The ones in the trays look nice Dru, as Scarlet says though, id do the same with the rest.
Are the ones in the trays the same as in the pot ?

Thats good to hear about the Padron Scarlot/Sp, just off to get some head and shoulders

                  • They look great Dru! I'd definitely only leave one in the tin pot though. I wouldn't go too big with your next potting stage - they like to be slightly pot bound so I think you'd slow them down if you go too big

                    • Overcrowding aside, Dru, they look good
Another issue to be aware of if you increase pot size by too much of a leap is that an adequate measure of water for the pot is still way more than the little plant within can hope to absorb, so it sits in permanently damp compost, which'll make it unwell and not grow properly. Older plants not so much of a problem, but your plants are still vulnerable at this point. And of course bigger pots require more of everything to maintain; time, space, compost, feed etc.

yes jackarmy the ones in the tray are the same as what is in the tin,at an earlier stage i took 12 out to make room not really thinking they would survive lol ,thank you for your reply ,i think i shall just move the ones in the tin into trays now as i think maybe 9cm pots could be too big?? im just abit worried that in the tray they will go leggy or fall over?
but i will try this as its my first year with these so its trial and error

thank you vixylix, yes i think they probably are pot bound now and i did take 12 out at an earlier stage to make room lol , ive learnt one thing though you really only need one seed to germinate for a chilli plant but of course thats not saying it will produce ,
so im thinking im going to re pot these all of these into trays so its not such a shock hopefully for them and see how they go this is a new one for me this year ,so next year i shall only sow 6 i will let you know as time goes on ok thank you again

                            • You might find the root system a bit unwieldy to get into a module tray now - you'd be better with 3 inch pots if you have any. If not, the tray will work for now, but they'll need re-potting again fairly soon
