But you would be looking at sowing at end of march/begining of april, so personally id think about buying a plant instead unless you are prepared to overwinter.
Any good chilli fests around your way Suzie ?
I'm with you on this jack. I've got 4/5 varieties that still haven't germinated. I will not be re sowing until next February. What a perfect excuse to go to a chilli festival
That's the chilli festival I want to go to I met chilli bob at the EGS. He is very nice, he knows his stuff and is more than happy to share the information. When you talk to him it's very obvious how passionate he is about his chilli's
I finally checked up on my accidentally overwintering chillies under the double cloche but it looks like the frost has finally got to them
They were alive and struggling a few weeks ago when I put on a second layer of insulation.
Ah well, sadly as we have nowhere indoors, it was worth a try.
At least I have 15 espelette pepper seedlings growing!
All very exciting!

I sowed Chocolate Habanero last year They need more heat Susie than your current arrangement provides in order to have a chance. A propagator ideally, on top of a boiler might work (needs to be fairly consistent heat though). Even then you're looking at a couple of weeks at least for germination. Like the guys have said you're best off waiting for next year now to sow again, or indeed buying a plant at a festival - I highly doubt you'd find this in a garden centre, even with the chilli renaissance we've seen these last few years. Ebay is also worth a look; people quite often have plug plants for sale. I bought a white habanero off someone a few years ago and it was as well presented (probably better) than plugs from the likes of T&M.

Morning Philthy! Thanks for that info, I will most definitely be investing in a heated propagator for next seasons chillis ... This morning, (ever the optimist) I took a peek at the Choc habs tray and surprise, surprise, there's only one little fella straining it's way through the compost! I'm well pleased, but tryin not to get TOO excited, as it may not survive.

This year am doing Cayenne and Padrón as usual. Also Lemon Drop and a White Habanero. All looking healthy at the moment, although the Habs are still a little small
