    • I'd grown Norfolk Nagas last year so thought it a good idea to overwinter. I cut them down to the main stalk and two small side stalks and planted in new compost in October. Brought them into the house-started growing straight away. By Christmas they were green and luscious leaves, by February the leaves had crinkled and the stalks had gone brown. Needless to say they died. I'd lost nothing really and will try next year but it's very disappointing

      • Overwintering is hit or miss, some years I'm lucky others it's been a disaster. Sometimes they are looking really good and then get a srious attack of aphids I still try again the following year what are you trying this year?

        • May I ask for some advice? I've never grown chilies before. I've germinated some in a cheap heated propagator. How long should they stay in there and where should they go next? Ultimate destination is a grow house in our backyard, but we're in Cumbria, so too cold still....

          What's the usual progression?

          Thank you!

          • Take them out of the heted prop immediatly Bee, otherwise they will go lanky pretty quick.
On a windowsill then with some nice sun and warmth would be tidy, could even go in an unheated prop for a while untill they get stronger.

Do i know your cousin?, lives just up the road from me ?

            • Went for potting up today, postpone the pinching out for a week or two!

Now transferred to the newly heated greenhouse

                • Thank you! I'll switch off the heat in the morning. Not any really sunny windowsills , sadly!

I don't think I have any cousins your way...?

                      • I've been doing some calculations. I take 79 plants (7 of them are still plug plants to be fair) 35 of which are chilli plants from the house to the polytunnel. This takes 9 trips. I measured the distance door to door yesterday using other half's measuring wheel, because I was interested ( and wondering why I was so knackered at the end of it ). House to polytunnel is 60m. So there and back 9 time =18 +18 because I do it both ends of the day =36 door to doors x 60m =2160m ( in old school) 1.3 miles
Concussion..... I really like my chilli's ( and tomatoes, aubergine, sweet pepper, cucumber)
