      • Here are some NPKs compared:

Levington Tomorite: 4-3-8 Plus Magnesium in unspecified amount.
        Typical price £2.50 to £3.50 per L.

Wilko Tomato Feed: 5-6-10 Plus Magnesium and seaweed, Magnesium 0.012%
Price £1.50 per L. bought via free click & collect.

Chilli Focus: 3-1-4 (2.98-0.97-4.39) Plus Magnesium in unspecified amount. £7.99 per L. on Amazon.

So my conclusion is Chilli Focus is roughly half the concentration of Wilko Tomato Feed, and more than four times the price.

Obviously if you feel it is a better product, then it might be money well spent, and I know there are plenty of positive reviews. Personally, I'd be interested to know more of the science behind the Chilli Focus formulation to justify the claims.

For example, do chillies and peppers benefit from lower Phosphorous levels compared to tomatoes, as the formulas imply?

I'm no expert but my understanding is that a nitrogen rich feed should be fed in the early days for leaf growth. The potassium is high in the tomato feed - that's used as soon as you see flowers, and not before. Chillies need to be fed before they start to flower, use the chilli focus now and switch to the Tom feed when they start to flower?

          • Ive only ever used the levington tomorite feed one on my chillis( and toms come to that ) mainly because every end of season the local b and m sells it off at a squid. Never had any problems appart from last year and i put that down to the 2015 effect

            • I never buy any feed as a rule I always use the stuff out of my wormery early on in the season, then occasionally I'll have some nettle feed but usually use a comfrey feed on my toms and chillies in the GH. I don't feed them until I see the flowers, they rarely need it - but they all get the same.

My chillies this year definately need something for leaf growth though as several are on the yellow side - it may well be my compost or getting cold in the greenhouse if they've gone up too early in the morning, I'm not sure but they are definately lacking in something. I didn't realise the chilli focus was difficult to get hold of as I couldn't get any around here last weekend. So the chillies have had the diluted worm feed. I think the plant colour has already improved a little.
I've never had a lemon drop plant reach my GH roof yet though so I'm going to invest in the 5L and let you know if ive had better results than on my comfrey feed and whether it was worth £20

              • I've used Chilli Focus for last few years and read somewhere recently that you don't want an overly heavy Nitrogen concentration, so perhaps explains the different and lower N amount...maybe

                • Evening all!
I have just sown some ' Turbo Pube X Albertos Locoto'
Although it's late, I'm assured they will fruit this year.
I got these seeds from a very kind, very knowledgeable man I got chatting to on Fbook.
(I forgot to ask if he's a member on here!?, must do that!!)
Because I didn't have any special or interesting seeds to return to him, he insisted I share the love and pass on any I have spare..

I know crossed varieties are not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm assured these really are very good.

I have 5 lots of 4 seeds, if anyone would like some please PM me, first come first served and ALL credit and ALL glory will go to the guy who bred them.

                  Hope this is ok mods!?
