  • I would just leave a few on the plant, tie something round the ones you want the seed from, and pick the rest.just let them one keep growing.do you know what I mean,

    • I understand.. but all of these formed fruit before I had any other peppers flowering so I'm pretty sure they're all safe.. just not sure how ripe they are!?

                • Ive never grown those either, how long have they been yellow? If they've been yellow for a while I would take them off, snip with the little bit of green stem and leave them to ripen/dry off in on a plate or open bowl.

Just to add to this...i usually leave the ripe fruit on the plant for quite a while before taking them off. My black nagas have had ripe fruit on for a while and I haven't picked them yet! I think it's a bit of trial an error.

                        • They've been yellow for a couple of weeks..they didn't really turn very yellow..the photo is a bit misleading!

..you know where you are with red! Lol

I shall leave them be for now.. this is the plant I left alone, it has much fewer fruits than the others but the fruits on this are significantly bigger!

                          • That's the beauty of Hungarian hot wax you can eat at all stages of the maturing process..... And the longer you leave them the more heat they are likely to have.....red being fully ripe

Ladyslip, is this true of all chillis..??

Can you eat them (any variety of chilli) when green and through all stages of ripening ....
Or does it depend on what type it is....?

                              • Was wondering when is best to snip off the first few flowers on Chilli and pepper plants?

I always snip the first 5 (is that enough?) off before they even open but when i just did it before, I was wondering is it best to wait until the flower actually opens or does it not really matter?

Any advice would be great, thanks.
