Captain, yes they will go wrinkled eventually but that is the start of the drying process..I grow some every year for Christmas decorations. Here's some Cayennes, picked a couple of weeks ago. Most were already red. There's only so many plants I can bring in to ripen the fruits. Here they have started to dry out and wrinkle a bit.

New member saying hi
Hi Everyone,
I just joined the site as it seems like the friendlies and most active gardening forum I have come across.
I'm Tim and live about 5 miles from Newcastle, and have got into gardening in the last couple of years.
My chillies are my 'pride and joy's so I thought I'd show some pics.
To help my chillies thrive I've spent a lot of effort on their summer home - I've got a pimped up mini wooden greenhouse, fully insulated/bubble wrapped and sealed and furnished with two mini tube heaters, an auto vent opener on the roof, and a wireless thermometer linked to the house.
Chillies in 'summer home':
I've just moved the chillies into their winter home, which is inside the house, I've got a wooden shoe rack off which hangs three 4-foot high output T5 fluorescent tubes, these cost just over a fiver a month to run, and based on last year's results the chillies seem to thrive under them. They have a corner in my lounge, and it's worth the effort to have something fluorishing in the house over winter. Last December I got about 50 pods off a jalapeno I was growing.
Chillies in their 'winter spot':
I hope to stick around for a while and take part in the discussion.
Tim

P.S. I'm coaxing the following plants along, from left to right in the last picture link in my last post above:
1) (LEFT) Cherry bomb. This thing wants to rule the roost, it has taken off and spread quite well despite being in a small (3L) pot.
2) Hungarian Hot Wax. A bit stunted as I potted up too early and drowned it a bit, it is recovering now. Has still given me about 15 pods this summer, most of which were huge. Nice heat but I can't take them raw too easily unlike the jalapenos.
3) Bulgarian Carrot. A baby at the moment, still waiting on the first pods, which are meant to be bright orange and very fleshy.
4) (RIGHT) Jalapeno. This one got potted up too soon and semi drowned like the Hot Wax, but is recovering. I want to get a bumper crop this year like last year, I got about 50 pods in a month from last year's Jalapeno plant, in December, under the grow lights.
