I've got Solent Wight and was advised to plant them in January (there's a thread on here somewhere where I asked if that was correct as I thought it should be autumn). I planted mine as soon as I got them (late Jan) and they're going great guns. I'd get them in now if I were you - supposedly the cold helps to develop bigger bulbs

I plant mine in April in an effort to avoid the late Autumn flight of allium leaf miner (& the consiquent damage) don't think it's got 'north of the border' yet so bung 'em in & get the longest growing season possible I would sayHe who smiles in the face of adversity, has already decided who to blame

Same as Chippy here, I always look at the Garlic Farm cslender - great info and I often buy my bulbs from them in the Autumn shows. Calendar :: The Garlic Farm - for all things garlic
I like to get mine in really early, get the job out of the way so I will always buy an Autumn sowing variety and try to get them out in October half term.
Can't remember when I did mine last year but they are about 4inches high already. Fingers crossed I don't get white onion rot this year. I've planted mine in a brand new bed. I was heartbroken last year as I lost the lot...love garlic.Last edited by Scarlet; 13-02-2016, 09:34 AM.
