Maybe a good reason to try currant tomatoes????

Just been reading this and decided I'll deffo give them a try this year.
I have coincidentally sent a few packets of seeds to VC

Anyone tried growing currant tomatoes?
I can imagine they are fiddly to pick but the ones I bought were stonkingly delicious ( hence saving some seeds to share)

I love currant tomatoes, i grow them every year. They cross more easier than normal tomatoes but i isolated some so have got lots and lots of gold rush currant seeds, would yo like some?

Aw...thanks for the offer, but I saved some of the seeds from the ones I bought.

Will try them outside first and see how we get along.
I liked the idea from that link that there may be less probs with aphids???
How are they with blight?.... We always have it badly here.

I have never had a problem with blight, well i do not think so, but had blossom end rot and they held up perfectly. The only problem is they grow wild and massive and so easy to snap their stems but the soon grow back and bigger. Not a pain to harvest either. They are early and go throughout the season as well.

If you like pizza, try putting them whole just before cooking, they are little explosions of awesomeness in you mouth when you bite into them, they also make a awesome sauce.

Forgot to say but i had lots of white fly in my PT last year and they badly infected the sweet millions, black krim and moneymaker but the currants were untouched.

I've never even heard of them! I'm intrigued though... I may have to go nosey at the VSP

fiddly for us, but for children it would be fun to pick and eat..as I did in my childhood.

Not sure, but I think they are cherry toms??

100´s and 1000´s are a cherry tomatoes, maybe on the small size but not currant.

Nico´s they will make it to the kitchen you get 1000´s off one plant, i know your a tad colder up there but do not see why you would´t get 1000´s as well.
I never cut any side shoots off just kept them more like a bush tomato

Yep easy could get to 8 feet, i had some that self seeded last year and the grew up the chicken wire house on to the roof, must have trailed 10ft easy, with no care or water!!!

I have only tried 3 out of that list because i am so happy with the ones i get now. i am doing 6 or 8 plants but that is really silly of me but i will freeze bags and bags of them to throw in whole whilst cooking in the winter, great for so many things, all i have to do is a quick wash and in a zip lock bag and you can take one or 2 as you please. wish i had some photos for you. i think 3 or 4 plants and you will have more than you can eat unless you try freezing as well. i am trying in cages this year with big holes to get my hands through as they are very delicate and snap so easy, hoping i can just guide them growing in there. But they do fine sprawling all over the floor.
