    just recieved some seeds today that i ordered called culshaws green striped pumkins says you cant sow till april so ile sow my alpine straberries hope its another nice day tomorrow

    April sounds about right. Pumpkins are tender plants and they grow quickly, so you need to sow about a month before your last frost date.

      That's interesting, brownie. Cushaw squash are usually grown in the southern states of the USA. They are shaped rather like a butternut, but are a different species (Cucurbita mixta) from the squashes that are usually grown in the UK. I'll be interested to find out how well they do as far north as Liverpool.

        I tried to grow Cushaw aka Tennessee Sweet Potato Squash about 5 years ago and it didn't do well for me

        Brownie, please let us know how you get on, if you succeed - I'll try them again cos they sound good

          I grew striped green cushaw last year and got 3 fruits from 2 plants which in all fairness was about the same story across all my squash. Whilst the neck did have flavour and was nice it was outranked quite easily by other squash IMO.

            thanks very much ile keep you upto date on how they go nothing tried nothing gained never tried growin g pumkins got the seeds from a site called moreveg.co.uk they just seemed interesting brownie
