Really do not know why I have never grown them before?
Anyway, even though all are now showing signs of new growth buds, is it okay to put peelings from them in a compost bin or is this courting disaster?
Feed the soil, not the plants.

The myth of leaving them in the ground and they'll keep coming back doesn't work if it's very wet.
I imagine they'll dry on a compost heap and die nicely.
