How many mangetout plants?

I know this is very subjective, but I'm trying to find out how many mangetout plants I'll need in my garden. There are only two of us in the household, but, being in Spain, I'm sure I'd use a lot of the pods in salads, light stir-fries etc.

I can't find any information on yields. I'm looking at Oregon Sugar Pod, which is supposed to be "high yield", but I have no idea what that means! Do I need two plants? Four? Eight?

I don't mind if I have too many (space is not and issue) but a rough estimate would be handy. Thanks!

I have 24 plants growing away in the greenhouse to supplement meals for 2 of us. (variety is Kent Blue -heritage, fairly high yielding *coughs* in the VSP...)

I grow flat podded mangetout, usually Bijou from Realseeds. I pick a couple of pods from a plant at a time - so if you want 20 pods for a meal, you need 10 plants (roughly).
The more you pick, the more you get - but not all at once.

Before you get too excited about the VSP, you need to be a member of the Forum for 3 months, have made 50 posts in that time and have a UK address to send the seeds to.

I have a short dwarf row to plant out in the polytunnel which is probably about 20 plants and I'll sow a couple more climbing ones for outside later in the season, about 30 seeds each I should think. There are 2 of us but I will give a few to my mum.

Bit late to this thread, but I grow Oregon Sugar Pod. I sow a row (1.5m) once a month April-July which gives two of us a couple of meals a week plus enough to give away and an A4 sized bag in the freezer. They are ok frozen as part of a mix in a stir fry, but not great just as a plain veggie.
I sowed my first row on Monday this week, but we don't have any snow down here!

I grew Oregon Sugar Pod last year. Two 4ft rows sown in the normal 3 inch separation (i.e 12 seeds to the ft) gave a salad's worth of peas for two every other day at their peak. That's in the East Midlands, how that compares to Spain I have no idea.

Have I misunderstood? Surely 12 seeds to the foot is a 1" spacing, not 3"?
