I was on the wilko website for slug pellets and this was posted in the description: "New government legislation is being brought in for plant protection products". Anyone familiar with what this might be about?

I got told years ago by my Auntie, that porridge oats work. Each time I have used them they seem to work for me The slugs eat them, cruel away, the porridge oats dry them up and the slug explodes apparentlyVisit my blog at: marksallotment20162017.wordpress.com

I do know that any time soon Bayer who make Provado are changing the active ingredient to a substance is is considered safer, I've got to change my C.O.S.H assessments for work when this happens.
Also slug pellets had the active ingredient changed last year, I don't have the details, but the pellets from Growing Sucess are the safest for the environment.Blogging at..... www.thecynicalgardener.wordpress.com

I was in my local garden center recently looking for greenhouse candles, couldn't see them anywhere. When I stopped one of the staff members and asked if they had any, the answer was that they had been banned by the EU.
He then went on to say to me, "have you noticed the large gaps in the shelves, that's because every day we get further notification of some other insecticide/fungicide/herbicide that the EU have banned and we have to remove from the shelves" so I went online and bought 3 tins of greenhouse candles off a retailer on fleabay. The day that Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck ...
... is the day they make vacuum cleaners

The whole withdrawal of these products is supposed to protect both us and the environment.
Let's not let this thread become political but try and help each other focus on the alternatives which are available.
I'm sure banning DDT went down like a lead ballon in it's day too."Nicos, Queen of Gooooogle" and... GYO's own Miss Marple
