  • Tomato plants dying

Can anyone tell me what might be wrong with my tomato plant
A few of the leaves look as if they are dying.
This is happening on 3 of my plants.

The leaves don't look too bad Zander but it does look quite dark. Is it that dark all day? I have started to give my babies a bit of liquid feed as the compost won't give them enough.
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison

Those top leaves don't look bad but the compost looks like it has some mould? If it is, you may be over watering.

Can't offer any advice Zander except remove the affected leaves. I've spun & enlarged the pic for ease:

Do you have a taller pot or container that you can plant it deeper, if you plant it up to the first set of leaves, new roots will come out of the buried stem.

You may only be watering once a week but that compost looks too wet to me. That along with a lack of ventilation could be the cause of the problem.

                      They look pretty OK.

Give them a feed and see if you can provide them with more air and light.

I know conventional wisdom is to remove affected leaves, but they don't look diseased and the next set of leaves will help you to diagnose whether your plants are missing mobile or immobile nutrients.

I wouldn't water less than once a week, because at that size I'd be adding a liquid fertiliser once a week. They look big enough for some outside time when the weather is mild, which might help.

I don't think the outside day time temperatures will be anyway high enough in Glasgow for a few weeks yet. I live much further south and we've had few days with the high anywhere near close to 10 degrees. Plus the wind would desiccate the leaves in no time. Might be ok for daytime trips to the greenhouse.

You need More light and less watering.
I water mine once a week in a greenhouse (heated to 5C to prevent cold damage- tomatoes similar in size)
