Lord Leicester grew well for me last year. I kept having to nip the tops back, I wouldn't have been able to reach the top otherwise.When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.Comment

My absolute favourite as a sweet shelling pea raw, or when they get they chance to be cooked, are Alderman. Great production as well as taste, the pods are easy to open and they are just stuffed with peas inside the quite long pods. Ne Plus Ultra is a good old variety featured in the Victorian Kitchen Garden. I grew Telephone last year which did well but I think I may revert to Ne Plus Ultra this year.
