Im cynical about where compost products come from, I generally have the idea that standards are better in the UK then here but after reading what Philthy pulled out of a B&Q growbag...
Ran a comparison this seed planting season between a bag of "100% natural" MPC from the local garden shop and some of my molehill soil, a bit of my compost(grass cuttings and some of my own veg waste, shop veg waste goes in the flower bed compost bin not the compost for my edibles).
All the seeds are up. The molehill soil seeds even a 2-4 days earlier. Its a bit more susceptible to mould then the bought compost but its also a lot finer. I dont know how the seeds stay snug either with the big chunks in the bought one.
