After trying 'em last year, I'm a nematode convert. Why do the hard work myself when I can get an army of millions to do it for me?

I cannot bring myself to kill animals ~ even if their favourite food is my veg ~ so collect them up in a tub and release them in the field on the way home

@ Cadalot. Smashing idea friend! Any chance of a piccy of one fully loaded and in action? Just not sure on the orientation of the bottle i.e. on it's side, vertical etc.

It's worth doing a little reading on the different types of slug. Some only snack on detritus and the rather gorgeous leopard slug, for example, eats other, smaller, more troublesome slugs.... Know thy enemy....

When I was little I used to get paid a penny a slug, so I got used to picking them up!

I pick em and squish em now, though we don't actually get that many at the allotment. Maybe not many walls / brick buildings / hiding places for them?

Never seen a leopard slug, but if I do I will let him live.

Poor, poor little slimy creatures, this might make you change your minds.

This is what they are like in the midlands, not horrible at all.

I was happy when we had chooks, any slug problems we let them loose on the veg bed, and they hunted everything, and, if they did nip at the cabbage leaves, they wiped out the slugs and snails in a matter of an afternoon, when returned to their coop area they just sat there dozing off, with full bellies..

Wow! What a beauty - those markings wouldn't look out of place on a Bengal Cat!

The Ammonia method was a disaster for me. Sure enough it killed the pests and the cabbage looked very nice but when I cut it, the bottom of the leaves were all rotted all of them, I had to bin the lot. This has happened every time I use Ammonia and I don't use it strong either.

                            Just my experience
