Most of my plants in small pots are on their last legs now - they struggle to keep going. Nearly all my outside toms in the ground have been hit by blight.
'It it were mine, I cut off all the sad leaves, move the pot somewhere warm and let the toms ripen.

Thanks veggiechicken, after trimming the leaves and moving them into the greenhouse they seem to have picked up.

Is there any use for a tomato planter bag once the tomato plants have been removed? I was wondering if i could use the bag to grow some winter salad leaves in my Wilkos plastic greenhouse?
Same question for my pots that have tomatoes, salad and herbs in - any tips as to what i can use them for over the winter? They'll be on a sunny sheltered patio.

PS, i also have a small heated propagator.

I reuse all the old compost for growing salads over winter. Some are hardier than others - I keep most of them in the GH as its more pleasant in there in winter

I've got a load of pots that are now empty? Is it too late to put them to any use? ( I have a heated propogator)
Also, does anybody reuse the compost for the following year? It seems such a waste to buy all new compost again in spring!

I grow indoor salads for those days when its too frozen outside to harvest anything. Lettuces, oriental greens and pea shoots will all grow happily in the house over winter, although it helps to have lights. You don't need a heated propagator for these.

I reuse old compost, freshening it up with bfb at planting time. I don't replant with the same family though - I have pots for potatoes/tomatoes, carrots and brassicas and try to keep track of what is where. I sieve compost that is going to be used for carrots. I usually use new compost for cucumbers because they are very susceptible to disease, tomatoes because they are very big, greedy plants, and for anything in the house because I don't really want wildlife indoors.
