  • Is my salad too leggy?

I sowed this tray on 7th April, I did sow it quickly not expecting as many seeds to germinate as they have. They've been in a covered non-heated propagator on a window which doesn't get all day sun, only evening. It looks a bit long.

The new packet was sown on the left, the right hand side was the remainder of an old seed packet.

They look great but you're gonna have a lot of pricking out to do..................

You need to thin them out a bit and pot them on.................and don't sow so many at once next time

Maybe the question should be "are my legs to salady"
looking good though, feed it to the bunnys and grow some carrots, pots and leeks for when the bunnys get fat .

Aint got no bunnies. Was going to sow some potatoes, but really want to grow tomatoes and carrots and I've yet to clear the back out so I have space for them. Don't think I'll be able to grow potatoes in the same area as there's not a lot of space.

That's a lot of lettuce! I tend to sow a six module tray every couple of weeks (2 ish seeds per module) from a mix of different varieties which keeps me supplied all summer

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

You could alway take a small bunch off seedlings to a larger pot, then when they get to up leggy, cut em off for salad leaves, and prick several out to grow on as separate plants

Yeah, I think I'm going to do a couple of things, window boxes and then some pots to allow for full growth as full plants.

For some reason I had an image from the film fatal attraction there with the pot on the stove.

If you have too many seedlings just eat the spare ones as microgreens.
