Growing veg in your front garden

Some years ago I grew some sweetcorn in the front flower bed, one every 3 feet. I thought it looked very ornamental, tall curving plants.
But the wife and kids thought it stupid, so I have not bothered since.

we live at the end of a cul-de-sac so I grow loads out the front as we have quite a bit of land, I have pear trees,plum trees a 'hedge' of redcurrants,gooseberrys,blackberries,strawberries,raspberries and I shall be putting my Tromba in the other bed I have out there to make a break for freedom as it usually takes over the back garden!
