Organic and non organic grow bags. Whats the difference?

What is the difference and what do you guys buy?

Do you buy organic or non-organic compost?
Its the compost contents that are different - the "bags" themselves are made of plastic, whichever one you buy.

Ooohhhh, good question, that's gonna take some thinking about, what can be composted that is inorganic will ask next time I'm at the local garden centre

I would imagine that non organic compost has been made from waste that has been added with chemicals for whatever reason............can't think of any other reason they should be different.

The base fertiliser added to the bags could be organic or inorganic.

Although I do use organic tomato grow bags... but I shove anything on the beds, mostly my own compost this year, which turned our fabulously even if I do say so myself

If I get good compost every year I think I will just use my own.

Peat is an organic material but is not sustainable. Coir is organic but uses up air miles.The councils recycled stuff could have bits of plastic and alllsorts in it, but it is sustainable.

As has already been mentioned organic grow bags will have an organic form of fertiliser added methinks.

The main difference is probably about 3 quid a bag.
As mentioned above organic if doesn't necessarily mean sustainable or good ethically for the environment.
Never seen an organic plastic bag either.
I personally don't like grow bags as their shape is not ideal and the volume is too small,they seem to have shrunk over the years too,rather than pay for a stand to improve the shape, I would rather pay for or make a container to grow in of an appropriate size for my plant,then use compost of my choice.
At the seasons end the compost can be recycled onto the raised beds,re~energised with fertillizer or composted and the container can be reused.I won't have to add plastic bags to landfill, apart from the ones my compost comes in,but these will be larger bags,and won't have big holes cut In them and can be flattened into sheets and used to cover.
The compost usually works out cheaper per litre if bought as "compost" rather than as a grow bag.

I'm using bags of Jack's Magic as growbags for the toms on the GH shelf.
Tied some string around its middle to make it deeper!
