I might now be able to get some stuff out of the growhouse and into the garden.

I very nearly planted some bits and bobs out today, looking at the forecast our last cold night should be tonight... Fingers crossed! Lol

The wind was blustery today so I didnt, did take everything out of the greenhouse and drag it all back in tonight!
The greenhouse heater is set to very low now... I can almost taste spring!!!!

Decent warm spell coming up, although possibly thundery at times. However, ne'er cast a clout till May be out...

There are already signs of a return to colder weather towards the end of the forecast range, although it is unlikely to be quite as cold as the middle of last week. The jet stream has some strong waves in it - we have been caught up on the cold side of it recently, but that is all set to change. Just be aware that it can change back again just as quickly!

I checked ours today, from wed onwards it starts climbing. Today has gone from 3 last night to 10 tonight.
It's to rise up to mid may even into 20s here ...but drops dramatically before rising to normal teens again....if the forecast is to be believed
This is pretty normal for us but pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaassssssseeeeee let someone else have a wet summer. Somewhere that needs wet.

Normally I'd get my toms and the like in the ground around 23 April. I've been looking ahead at the calendar. If things don't change, this year it will be around 10 May, so quite a bit later.

NEVER go by what it says on the barometer (change, fair, dry etc). The actual reading on the barometer is fairly relevant, but it is the pressure trend (rising, falling, steady) and how fast this is happening that is important. A steady barometer in general means little change, rising means improving, falling means deteriorating. A sudden rise or fall is always accompanied by strong winds.

In general high pressure (1020+) usually means fine weather, but there can be frost, fog or lots of cloud depending on the time of year and orientation of the high - its not a given that it will be dry and sunny. Similarly low usually means wet and windy, but if you get a slow moving low that's sitting over the top of you it can be very different.

I remember one time, I think in early spring, when the barometer needle dropped off the scale (Stormy). The weather was lovely - settled fine and not cold. At the time I was noting what happened every day and trying to learn what the barometer readings meant. After about 3 days of this I wrote in my notes "barometer appears broken". A couple of days later the weather turned wetter and the barometer started to rise. We had simply had an unusually low pressure sitting slap over the top of us for several days!

Quite a few of the papers at work this morning were forecasting warmer temperatures

I'm sowing my seeds today as I don't want to hold off any longer. Tougher stuff like peas & beans can go in the greenhouse but temperamentals like melons and cucumber will join the tomatoes on my living room window where I can keep an eye on them
