  • Outdoor cucumbers in greenhouse?

At my time of buying all my seeds i didn't really read enough about what i was getting and just picked what i liked the look of. Foolish i know....
Anyway, i have sown some Marketmore cucumbers which are doing really well and are currently residing in the greenhouse, and overcoming a little sun burn from the weekend just fine thankfully!
But i now realise they are meant to be grown outdoors (when the weather is good enough), can they still be grown in the greenhouse, or would this be a waste of valuable space in there?
If so, would it be too late to pick up some more seeds for a proper indoor variety at the weekend and sow them?

I'm growing a different type this year (diva and gifted some gergana plants)but have usually done marketmore, I've grown them in greenhouse and outside here. Did better in greenhouse as colder here than you I'd guess.

I had a great crop outdoors last year and the ones in the greenhouse just didn't do as well at all, so I will not be growing any in there this year.

I mostly grow GH varieties although I have done varieties that can be grown Outside before I had my GH. Market more cues will have some stubbly skin. I honestly "think" they will be fine undercover (plant near the doors) although if you want to hedge your bets you could start off some indoor varieties now as it isn't to,late. Mine were started last weekend.
Perhaps you could try one or two of each, though ive just had a G@@gle and it's not wise to grow outdoor and indoor varieties close together. If you start some indoor varieties don't grow your outdoor ones inside as well. Cross pollination may cause bitter fruits.

I've grown marketmore in the tunnel before they seemed to do ok I think (quite a while ago now). But being in a tunnel here is probably the same as outside where you are. It's all location location. Give it a go, you will know for next time.
There is nothing wrong with picking seeds because you like the look of them that how I choose all of mine

I've grown Marketmore and Chinese Slangen (both outdoor varieties) in a blow away with good results. Unlike alot of indoor cucumbers you don't have to pull off the male flowers of outdoor types before they open which is why I grew these varieties instead of an indoor I'll be doing the same again this year.

I've sown 2 types of indoor and 2 of outdoor - approx 10 of each, in modules. All the indoor ones have withered and died and all the outdoor ones are doing well. Guess I'll be growing mostly outdoor ones this year!

I've grown Marketmore and Wautoma in the Greenhouse for the past two years as my family prefer the taste to the Supermarket type. They have been prolific producers in the Greenhouse and far far better than when planted outdoors.

I'm doing the same again this year.

Hummm seems it might not be worth sowing more seeds then.
I only wanted 2 plants originally as I'm tight on space in the greenhouse, sowed 4 seeds and they all doing great, I couldn't bring myself to cull the extra ones!
Think I'll do a little experiment with 2 outside and 2 inside and see how they do
