I have been trying to keep the soil just moist. Do you think maybe I have been over watering?

Sounds like its too wet. How do you stand up the toilet rolls? Are they all packed together in a tray or summat?

For the soil to be mouldy too, I would say they were too wet. Are you sure it's ontheplant itself?

Yes I have about 12 rolls altogether standing in a tray. I have peas growing in toilet rolls on other side of tray that have shooter up and ok. I just assumed as the beans were bigger they would need more water to germinate lol I'm such a novice!! Should I leave them to dry out for a couple of days now?

Hope you can see the pic...i scraped back some of the soil and you can see where the mould has got to the bean!

Are those beans just germinating or have they been sown half in half out?

Either way, I think they will be fine.

I originally pushed them in quite deep so i assume they might be swelling so have pushed up a bit?!? I have scraped some of the soil back so i was able to show you what i meant.

If they are rising to the top they are probably in the process of opening out. That little bit of mould is nothing to be worried about. Possibly a little to wet but as soon as they are put in the ground they willbe fine.

TIP: DON'T stick em in the microwave now else nothing will appear and as Kenneth Williams said in 'Carry on Screaming' you will be Frying Tonight.

Think that mould is absolutely nothing to worry about and will only grow in warm, damp conditions such as a propagator would produce, soon as they come out of it and/or are planted then the problem will go away.

Any organic material will host mould if the temp and moisture levels are right, change the environment and the mould will go, just as MB states above
