Do I need to do anything with this?

It's a Hot Shakira chilli Capsicum annuum

I'm trying to keep it on the windowsill so will it need anything doing to it?

Looking good so far. If it starts producing flowers over the next couple of weeks, take them off as it's a little small yet to have any fruit. Just keep in a warm and very sunny spot.

Scarlet, so does it only apply to the smaller plants re taking off the flowers - it's ok to leave them on the bigger plants??
Seems a daft question, but how small is 'too small'??? I could see from 4x4's photo that that one was approx 4", so guessing need to be bigger than that?? Or does it go on what type it is??

Susie, when you look at your plant, imagine half a dozen fruit on it.
Do you think it might topple?

For something with tiny chilis on, it doesn't need to be very big really...it you're wanting big blocky sweet peppers, it'll need to be bigger.

Then think about the end plant size. Its a lot to ask of the roots to grow stems and leaves and roots AND fruit.
So, I grow Aji sweet from realseeds. The fruit are small (but plentiful) on a plant that grows to about four or five feet! I therefore don't let it set fruit before its waist high.
Some chilli plants only get to 18 inches!

There are so many variables with peppers.
If you have a couple of each variety the very best thing you can do is experiment,...pinch out one, take flowers from another and so on. If you keep a recored you can come back and tell us what works because I only know for the 2 varieties I grow (the Aji and cherry bomb) I would love to know about some of the others!

I really need to research each variety I have growing, I tended to just buy and sow anything I liked the name of, not knowing anything about them .....

A great idea regarding the keeping notes on progress, pinching out, taking/leaving flowers etc

It's very interesting, and am enjoying all the 'ups and downs' of my chilli progress!

I grow snackbite peppers which look like chilis but are not hot. I don't take any flowers off as the plants don't grow all that big.
