It worked! An early sowing of beetroot into cells was transplanted into the garden. Had our first taster of sweet baby beets last night. It saved wasted seeds and thining out as they were planted at 3 inches apart.

I have been know to plant directly but I plant most of mine that way and get them past the small tender enticing slug demolishing stage before they go in the ground, and helps with spacing and no thinning
