Plum trees were very old and full of canker, plus they were suckers from an old parent tree that died years ago.

    No fruit grown near by

Been dodging the showers today...slow going but beginning to open up a bit now the trees have gone.

Weekends are dedicated to the new plot and week days to Area 51

Well done, youre getting through the work so quickly. Looking so promising.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

After reading BM's thread on the Eden method I have decided that the new plot will be cleared without the use of power tools and limited hand tools.

My tools will consist of a handsaw, rake, spade and grass hook.

I shall also employ fire to remove the stubble and surface seeds. I think the satisfaction of doing all by hand well be huge

Stumps cut down to ground level....it was hard work with a hand saw I can tell you

But had company from several of these pretty butterflies

What about if you marked an area out with a bit of string then aim to dig that bit that way it won't look as daunting as looking at the whole plot.

Dug out the dividing fence today so now have one big plot, scarey how much bigger it looks as one

The important thing is i am enjoying the challenge I took it from a different angle as the trees make a stunning background
