Why do some brassicas get very thing stems right near the base? It makes them all floppy.

Don't know but your compost looks very wet and the algae suggests it is often wet. Most brassicas you can plant deeper but as I only ever sow swedes direct, I don't know whether the same is true for swede. -
Hi plant them up to the 2 lower seed leaves press them in hard sweeds transplant easy enough they will be ok you can plant out nowComment
