    They should be fine for one season. I thinks it's worth knowing what can happen. Ive used some of those underbed storage boxes that split badly. Use them and get rid before they start splitting.

      I was just 'making use ' tbh ...may not use them yet . Was going to use for courgettes .

        I think that most plants don't like sunlight on their roots but at the back of my mind there is something that does benefit from it....think it might be a flower and I know bu@@er all about flowers

        Edit: Just had a quick Google and I think I was thinking about orchids. Apparently their roots can photosynthesise.

          You are right spam , often get orchids in clear pots.
