Got my sweetcorn in loo role middles but they're going a bit pale. They're ready to go in really but it's set to go chilly for a day or two so I'm keeping them back until the end of the week. The roots are hinging out the bottom too. My question is will they pick up once they're in the ground?

I dont plant mine out until they are at least 8 inches tall and feed for the last week before they go out with some nettle tea.
If i plant any earlier the wind seems to shred the leaves.Last edited by Greenleaves; 24-05-2016, 07:47 PM.

Thanks for the replies. Mine look the same. Was going to plant them out this weekend. They have been hardening off for the last week in fact just remembered they are still outside. Good old OH has gone to rescue them and tuck them up in the green house bless himDogs have masters, cats have slaves, and horses are just wonderful

They do have their uses, Bal!!
My sweet corn have one or two leaves 'yellowing' , but there seems to be plenty of root growth that I can see creeping out underneath the loo roll inners, so guessing they're OK ...
Think they're probably ready to be planted out, the compo they're in must have run out of nutrients by now, anyway.~~~ Gardening is medicine that does not need
a prescription ... And with no limit on dosage.

They look a lot better than some I've seen scoot!
I use modules for mine. I found that when using loo rolls or even peat pots after a while the leaves do start yellowing, I think it's when the roots begin to penetrate the cardboard or peat and perhaps start drying out!?
I'd try to get them out as soon as you can though..
Mine have really strengthened up since going out!
