  • Rocket ..brassica ..dilemma

Made a very simple mistake a think. I dint realise rocket n mustard were part of the brassica family and I've planted mustard n rocket in the same place or very close to where a had brascas last year. I had forage rye in afterwoulds over winter.

These are just seedlings right now. Is it possible to transplant them, or should I just dig um,in and cut my loses. Or would it be OK to let them grow

Any advice for a beginner greatly appreciated

I wouldn't worry about it. Rotation is to avoid a build-up of pests and diseases and to avoid soil depletion of nutrients specific to the crop. Both effects are pretty slow and unless you had disease problems last year you are very likely to be fine.

I tend to grow rocket in with the lettuce stuff because it isn't in the ground that long (seeds germinate, one leaf appears, then the flowers and then I dig it up...) so quite often follows on from the brassicas in rotation. I've had no problems so far with a pest/disease build up.
