I've planted in May before and got a surprisingly good crop. A bit of research says they are maincrop, which need 15-20 weeks. That takes you to mid September to mid October. Personally if you have got the space I'd plant them and be prepared to cut off the foliage if you get blight. You'll get out more than you planted.

I grew Rooster last year. They produced reasonably sized potatoes quite quickly. And we liked them enough for me to grow them this year. If you've got room for them, definitely give them a go bearing in mind WendyC and Penellype's remarks about blight.Last edited by Snoop Puss; 30-05-2016, 12:18 AM.

Sorry to hijack this thread. But I ordered some potatoes from TM with potato bags. The bags they sent are tiny, about the size of a carrier bag. I thought potato bags were much bigger. Is it worth planting in them?Dogs have masters, cats have slaves, and horses are just wonderful

They sound very small - I reckon on a minimum of about 10 litres of compost per seed potato. You could put one in each bag, but they will need a lot of watering.A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy
