  • Pea Shoots

My first batch of pea shoots were a big success with the family

I'm sure I heard that pea shoots can be grown from cheap bags of dried supermarket peas.

Is this true and any tips on this. It would be a whole lot cheaper than buying expensive seeds
    Thanks
    Guy

I've grown Leo dried peas (in a box at the supermarket).
    They're great for pea shoots.

I grow Leo peas, just remove the bag of white stuff - not needed lol

I use long thin trays that fit on the window sill in the kitchen, just a bit of compost and I completely cover the compost with peas, then add a bit of compost on top. They soon romp away and land on my dinner plate! Delicious

In fact, when I work down south I stay over night with a lady that does catering, and a while ago she said she was going to do a pea shoot salad at a catering event in a couple of months time. I told her what I do, so off she went and got lots of Leo's and saved herself a bucket load on growing them instead of buying them

I use the Bigga marrowfat peas. 1 pack gets me 3-4 planters' worth for just 50p.

I buy the cheapest packets on the shelf and they all seem to grow and taste fine.
