Hmmm, just when you think it's safe to put yer woolies and galoshes away, it has you running to grab them back out the cupboard ....
It's been 'in the air' here all day up to press ...
Didn't even fancy mooching around GH today - it needs reorganising - again - 'spose it'll keep~~~ Gardening is medicine that does not need

Its never safe to put anything away
The words "ground frost" appeared (albeit as a worst case scenario in parts of Scotland) in a forecast I read earlier for the end of this week.A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy

We spent the weekend setting up irrigation for our holidays but now its looking like rain for 6 days in a row before any sun. Wondering whether to take the risk and just not run the irrigation at all, might take a week to dry up the ground after all this rain ad it is!!!!
Hmmmm hmmm what to do what to do....

Nothing is certain as the weather is very showery at the moment which means totals vary widely from one place to another, but the weather models are forecasting an inch (25mm) or more of rain in the next 10 days Computer model weather forecast charts - I don't think it is going to suddenly turn dry and warm. If it was me, unless the forecast radically changes I'd be leaving the irrigation off.
(To get the precipitation total click on HD aggregate and choose 10 day precip total on the left - I can't seem to get it to link to the exact page.)Last edited by Penellype; 13-06-2016, 08:24 PM.A life is like a garden. Penelope was correct, it did not turn dry and warm, it has been raining for the whole month. At this point we even have the heating on in the house! I close the greenhouse door because of the rain and wind and aphids multiply! I open the doors so beneficial insects can go in and eat them and everything gets cold, wet and soggy! Can't win! I picked the wrong year to start gardening...

Keep yer chin up Ryez - things can only get better ............
It's no consolation, but I think it's not just you who's suffering this dreadful soggy June - practically the whole country..!!!
Don't talk to me about greenfly ............... And as for the slugs ...........
It's July on Friday - Summer will finally appear, it'll be a transformation then, you just wait and see..!!
Flippin' 'eck ..... good job I'm at home today - just looked out patio doors and to my horror my runner bean frame was flapping about in the wind and rain ..... so after a quick mercy dash, managed to secure it firmly (I hope...!!!!). As if the poor bean plants haven't gone through enough with the ruddy slugs - I could see an army of new arrivals sliming their way to greet me .......... aarrgghh~~~ Gardening is medicine that does not need
a prescription ... And with no limit on dosage.

Unfortunately we are in a very changeable setup at the moment, with repeated troughs of low pressure moving in from the atlantic. Expect bands of rain, sunshine and showers. Once this pattern sets itself up it takes some shifting I'm afraid.A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy
